Alan O'Rourke's Story

Alan's journey in construction began unexpectedly at age 13 when his family home burned down in 1983. He worked alongside his father — a draftsman by trade — to rebuild their home on their 10-acre property.

Under the guidance of an old family friend who was a master carpenter, Alan discovered his passion for building and began to develop his unwavering commitment to seeing projects through to completion.

By 19, Alan was working professionally as a framer, and at 22, he launched his first construction business which quickly grew to a 10-person crew building condos in Coquitlam. Though he now candidly acknowledges these early developments didn't meet the quality standards he upholds today, these formative experiences taught him valuable lessons about construction quality and integrity.

After weathering economic downturns and working in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside, Alan found himself working with a high-end custom home builder, quickly rising to become their site supervisor. For three years, he oversaw the construction of luxury custom homes valued up to $15 million, honing his skills in premium craftsmanship and attention to detail.

In 2007, Alan took the leap to establish his own business in Vancouver, starting with smaller projects like decks and fences before working his way up to building his first large-budget custom home by 2014. Despite his growing success and relationships with numerous architects, the demands of his business began taking a toll on his family life.

Seeking better balance, Alan and his family relocated to Victoria in 2015, where his wife's family resided. The move meant essentially starting over, but Alan's determination and craftsmanship quickly helped him rebuild his reputation in a new market. Today, with over 35 years of hands-on experience, Alan leads a team dedicated to creating exceptional homes that stand the test of time.
